get rid of water weeds

Let us take control of your invasive aquatic weed problem. Our specialist surveyors and operatives are highly experienced and qualified to work near or on waterways to provide the ideal solution to manage or eradicate each aquatic weed species.

Without control measures in place, aquatic weeds will take over causing harmful effects on the ecosystem, as well as having an impact on the way we use rivers, streams and ponds such as:

  • destroy fish and wildlife habitat
  • suppress native plants and wildlife
  • navigational blockages
  • impact on flood control
  • issues with recreational wild swimming
  • clog drinking, irrigation and hydroelectric power water pipes.

For these reasons infestations of aquatic species on UK waterways needs to be controlled – we can help with that.

Environment Controls is a trading name of Japanese Knotweed Ltd. We have been building relationships with customers since 2010 and have over 1,000 independent five star reviews on TrustPilot. Our H&S trained and accredited team members will resolve your aquatic species, water weed or river weed infestation.

Aquatic weeds control Services

Regular treatment or removal of any aquatic weed (also known as water weed, pond weed, river weed or lake weed) are the most effective methods available to reduce plant growth without damaging the environment. Additionally, but not to be ignored is the impact on the economy as the cost of control runs into hundreds of thousands per year. These invasive aquatic plants need to be controlled!

identification

Identification is key to determining the correct method of control, whether that is treatment, removal or longer term management. Once we have carried out a survey our specialists will put together a plan of action to discuss with you.

Treatment & removal

Each species of water weed can be treated with a different method, such as hand pulling, dredging, chemical treatment, mechanical (excavating the area) or treated using a different species that will either eat it or out-compete it. We will always discuss options with you to ensure the best outcome suited to the site and its natural environment.

sustainable options

We advocate using nature’s own methods of control where possible, so we may suggest a non chemical method or use of another species that will out-compete the problematic weed. A good example of this is Grass Carp to control Nuttall’s water weed, as they simply feed on the weed depleting it’s reproduction and growth.
