Darren Greatbatch is Environment Controls amenity & invasive weeds expert. He now spearheads the amenity weed management arm of the business, securing and managing multi-year weed controls for 7 UK councils.

Darren is a BASIS Certified Crop Advisor in Hard Surfaces and Invasive and Injurious Weeds. He is also an NSK BASIS Storekeeper, a PCA Certificated Surveyor in Japanese Knotweed and holds a Black Manager’s CSCS card. Highly experienced in invasive species identification and methods of control, he provides herbicide recommendations and undertakes Invasive Species Site Surveys.

Darren is one of Environment Controls in-house experts, providing training modules on invasive plants and species, herbicide application and health and safety. His investment into IWM enables the company to take a holistic view to invasive weed control and eradication. Recently Darren instigated and project managed the development of a bespoke design for a suite of new quad bikes. The new bikes have proven to use 60% less herbicide and 65% less water.

He has previously managed and operated a large family-run contracting business in Wales, spent 20 years within amenity weed control working mainly for local authorities, landowners, and homeowners. Darren’s longevity, experience and expertise in this industry enables him to address industry-specific challenges and to offer clear, unbiased guidance, thought and insight.
