Removing Bamboo from neighbouring properties

PROJECT EXAMPLE: BAMBOO EXCAVATION AND REMOVAL

Getting rid of invasive Bamboo from two neighbouring residential properties at the same time is rapidly becoming a popular (and sensible) option for homeowners or managed property. Ensuring both sides of the fence has the bamboo completely removed is vital in order to stop it from spreading further afield, and when neighbours can collaborate it’s always a more successful outcome.

On this contract we were asked to remove bamboo from a residential property – a relatively small garden that was being overtaken by bamboo. As with all surveys that we carry out – we’ll look for signs of encroachment. We quickly discovered that the bamboo was also growing on the neighbour’s side of the fence. It was therefore essential to get rid of all Bamboo to avoid either property from having the same problem a few months later, and to stop for the bamboo spreading even further afield onto other neighbouring properties.

All culms were cut back then fully excavated chasing all rhizomes out. The soils were removed to landfill. We used a small digger due to the size and access limitations of the site. Once completed, we placed a root barrier on both sides of the fence and the clean area was then backfilled with fresh imported topsoil to leave both gardens tidy.

It’s important to get rid of all Bamboo even if it’s spread onto a neighbours – otherwise you run the risk of it returning.

All bamboo material and contaminated soils were removed from both properties. As you can see the finished result was a clean garden ready to be repurposed.

If you have a problem with bamboo on your property ask us for details on how we can get rid of it for you.
