PLANT EXCAVATION
Excavation is the best solution to permanently remove invasive plants and contaminated ground for commercial construction and land investors.

From invasive plants to hazardous soil contaminants like non-licensable asbestos – we provide a range of fully compliant excavation and disposal services that keep your project moving forward.
At Environment Controls, we offer a full suite of excavation options tailored to the needs of any site. Scroll down for an overview of method options.
Whether you’re dealing with invasive plant species, asbestos in soils, or even multi-contaminant ground conditions, we’re equipped to get the job done swiftly, safely, and in line with all H&S and environmental regulations.
We’re not just a dig-and-go team – we provide intelligent excavation options that often adapt to the project requirements, helping to keep projects on track and on budget.

Contaminated ground can grind your project to a halt. Our specialist teams can safely remove and dispose of soil impacted by:
Invasive plant material – such as Japanese knotweed or Ragwort.
Non-licensable asbestos – our qualified professionals will assess, remove, and dispose of asbestos-contaminated soil.
Petroleum hydrocarbons – including oil, petrol and diesel residues.
Heavy metals – including lead, cadmium, arsenic and mercury from industrial or agricultural sources.
We handle all aspects – from soil sampling and analysis, to removal and compliant disposal – providing you with a clean, regulation-ready site.
We adapt our methods based on site requirements, contamination levels, and future use. Here’s a quick overview:
Full Excavation & Removal – Instant eradication of invasive species or contaminants by removing all affected soil, leaving the site ready for development.
Reduced-Level Excavation & Root Barrier – Cost-effective for shallow plant contamination; we excavate to a set depth and cap the rest with a durable root barrier.
Soil Sifting – Reduces rhizome volume in contaminated soils. Useful for re-use on-site, though not guaranteed to eliminate all invasive material.
Cell Burial (RPS 178) – Excavated waste is buried on-site within a root barrier, sealed beneath a 2m clean fill layer – sustainable and compliant.
Soil Relocation – Contaminated soil is moved to a designated area on-site for long-term treatment and landscaping.
Vacuum Excavation – Non-invasive and low-disruption, ideal for working around live utilities or sensitive habitats using compressed air and suction.
Invasive Water Weed Removal – Where excavation is required, we assess and remove aquatic weeds carefully to prevent re-growth or spread downstream.
Contaminated soils require careful management. We provide:
Soil sampling and WAC testing
Contamination hotspot location and analysis
Hazardous waste tracking and licensed disposal
From discovery to remediation, we’ll manage the entire process in line with environmental legislation – so you don’t have to worry about delays or compliance headaches.
